Cheryl Gillan has been the MP for Chesham and Amersham since 1992. She was also the Secretary of State for Wales from 2010 to 2012.

In 2008, Cheryl took forward a Private Members Bill on autism in Parliament. The Bill gained cross-party support and led to the landmark Autism Act in 2009. This committed the Government to produce an adult autism strategy and statutory guidance for local authorities, including on provision of services for adults with autism and how to improve diagnosis.

Before entering Parliament, Cheryl worked as a marketing executive for several companies.

Cheryl was elected chair of the APPGA in 2014.
